The Chief of Mission, Amb Lateef Kayode Are, received in audience a delegation from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), led by Mr. Charles North, Deputy CEO, and comprising Ms. Melissa (Lissy) Moskowitz, Donor Relations Lead, and Ms. Foluyinka Fakoya, Global Advocacy and Public Policy Lead. The engagement provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and advance shared priorities in education and global development.

On 20th August 2026. Mr. N.Aliyu Biu (Amb) represented H.E Ambassador Lateef Kayode Are, at the Africa-Cuba Reception hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the United States. The reception brought together members of the African diplomatic corps and the wider diplomatic community to celebrate the longstanding bonds of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between Cuba and Africa. Cuban Chargé d’Affaires, Ms. Lianys Torres Rivera, highlighted the shared history and enduring ties between Cuba and the African continent, as well as prospects for strengthened cooperation.

The Federal Republic of Nigeria and the United States of America held the second session of the Nigeria–United States Joint Working Group in Washington, D.C., on 13 August 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation. The Nigerian delegation was led by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and included the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, alongside other senior government officials.

The session focused on strengthening practical cooperation between both countries in addressing shared security challenges and enhancing the capacity of relevant institutions.

Both sides reviewed progress since the inaugural session of the Joint Working Group, held in Abuja on 22nd January 2026, and discussed opportunities for enhanced cooperation in counterterrorism, intelligence sharing, law enforcement and the protection of vulnerable communities. Led by Dr. Sharon Bullock, alongside Founder Amb. Dr. Remi Duyile and other Board members. The meeting focused on the Foundation’s mission and opportunities for future collaboration.
